Hosted annually by the Bahamas National Trust, the Winter Jollification Event is wonderful weekend of socializing, connection and fun for much of the New Providence Community. And so, for the third year in a row, our Hands For Hunger team was thrilled to host our Gourmet Soup & Bread Stand, where we had the opportunity to interact and engage with so many of you! Thanks to your support, we raised $2,228 in funds from the weekend- which will go directly towards keeping our two refrigerated trucks on the road delivering surplus fresh food to Bahamians in need. In addition, we were lucky enough to share with some of you about our new programs and initiatives aimed at tackling hunger and food insecurity in our country. This year, over 30 dedicated volunteers helped to: prepare the soup, squeeze lemons, bake fresh bread, man the stall, haul in supplies and clean up when it was all over- we are very grateful to all of you! Thank-you also to our corporate sponsor partners that supported the event: The Soup, The British Colonial Hilton, Van Breugels- for delicious gourmet soup, Balduccinos Fine Foods & Chives Cafe for the warm artisan breads and Aquapure for the refreshing water used in our hand-squeezed lemonade and to keep our volunteers hydrated. We were also given generous individual donations of much needed event supplies such as: spoons, paper bags containers and ice. For the first time, supporters this year took part in an exciting Facebook Hunger Challenge, sponsored by Bahamas Ferries. Giorgio Knowles was randomly selected as the winner of a free round-trip anywhere on Bahamas Ferries after posting a hunger fact in his Facebook Status and tagging H4H and Bahamas Ferries in the meantime! Thanks to everyone who took the time to participate and help us to raise awareness about the cause!

Finally, we rounded up the weekend with a special delivery to our agency network of: soups, baked goods, pulled pork, roasted vegetables and more unsold delectables, thanks to the help of the other Jolly vendors on site! Thanks so much to everyone that took the time to stop by our booth: Whether you sampled one of our gourmet soup varieties, cooled off with a glass of lemonade, or simply stopped by to say hello- we really appreciate your support. We'll look forward to seeing you next year at another outstanding Jollification in 2011! Thanks to all of our fantastic corporate event sponsors:
